Import a Plain Text Bibliography into Endnote using Citation Finder
Occasionally you may receive a list of references or an unformatted bibliography, in plain text.
This Citation Finder tool can be used to search for plain text bibliography entries, even those that do not contain PMID or DOI numbers.
In your text document:
Highlight the plain text reference (or multiple references)
Copy (CTRL+C/Cmd+C)
Go to Citation Finder: https://citation-finder.vercel.app/
- Paste (CTRL+V/Cmd+V) citation into the -- Enter a list of citations --….frame
- RIS to use with EndNote
- Search
- Review to verify that the Yellow box matches the citation.
IF it doesn’t match, choose the correct box. IF none are a match, click on the yellow box until the yellow color is gone. - Download the citation(S).
NOTES:
- Once you click the blue download button, the file should open in EndNote. If it doesn’t, locate the file in the downloads folder. Click on it, if it still does not open,
- use File>import in EndNote.
- When you paste in more than one bibliography, it is recommended that you limit your citation count as searching cant take longer if there is a large amount of citations sent to the cache.
- Each citation must be on a separate line, with a hard return separating each entry. Double spaced is fine.
- The default match selects the citation that matches the best. This is not always correct, so be sure to review each entry.
- This works for articles from journals indexed in PubMed.
